A girl was caught on camera allegedly kicking a swan before another person pushed a concerned onlooker into the canal.

Superintendent Andy Cox, of the Metropolitan Police, has issued an appeal to track down the youths after the ‘awful’ animal cruelty.

Around ten youngsters were involved in the shocking incident in Limehouse, East London, on Friday.

In video footage, a girl can be seen holding onto a railing as two swans mate in the water below.

A voice from behind the camera can be heard saying ‘she’s kicking the swan, she’s kicked the swan.’

An older man then approaches the group with a rod.

As he speaks to them, a boy in a blue t-shirt runs up behind him and allegedly pushes him into the canal.

The person filming the incident shouts ‘oh what’ in shock as the man falls into the water, before the youngsters scream abuse at him when he stands up in the canal.

As the group walk away from the scene, shouts of ‘f***ing wimp.. f***ing p****hole blud’ can be heard.

Superintendent Andy Cox from the Metropolitan Police tweeted: “Awful viewing. Animal cruelty is an indicator of many other vile behaviours and a tendency towards other forms of violence.

“The assault & anti social behaviour needs our action. Help us by letting us know who these offenders are via 101; @MetCC or confidentially via crimestoppers.”

The RSPCA tweeted: “If anyone has further information on these individuals, please contact us on 0300 1234 999. Thank you!”
